What is executive functioning? Executive functioning is an individual’s ability to organize thoughts and activities, prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and make decisions. Adolescents is complex time, and an expert can provide key information about the brain’s growth during the pubescent years. We can collaborate to devise plans to achieve goals, self-initiate tasks and to use self-talk skills. This can be done online or in person sessions following primitive reflex screening.

Executive Functioning Skills

Sensory Profile

The sensory profile for adolescents is focused on age 13+. This self-report questionnaire can be a fantastic way to bring insight to your child regarding their strengths, areas for growth and specific sensory preferences. The discoveries will lead building a custom sensory diet understanding and OT related to functional performance in school, at home, extra-curriculars and areas of interest as your student is growing in independence. A child’s sensory preferences guide primitive reflex testing and treatment for integration.

Rewiring the Brain

Primitive Reflexes are commonly still present in school aged children. These can be present as symptoms of clumsiness, ADHD, Dyslexia, poor reading or comprehension, difficulty regulating emotions, distracted or may choose isolation over social engagement to name a few. Schedule an evaluation with OTKellyB who is certified in primitive reflexes to learn more about your child and how OT for reflex integration can guide your child to make leaps and bounds in independence and school engagement.
